The trial is nearly concluded – Chiwar finished giving evidence on Wednesday afternoon, then 2 Defence witnesses and 1 more Prosecution (?) witness appeared for the rest of that day, the latter returning briefly this morning. Then the Crown summed up, then Ms Sheikh representing Gloria and tomorrow it will be Mr Owusu representing Chiwar summing up from 9.30 am to around midday, then court will rise until Monday when the judge will do his summing up and the Jury will go out.
It’s been a David & Goliath situation with 44 Prosecution witnesses against just 2 Defence witnesses! But this very ‘inequality of arms’ could work just work in their favour and it hasn’t all gone the Crown’s way by any means. Don Markus the solicitor says he tried extremely hard trying to get witnesses, I have no doubt he did because he kept reporting his efforts to me.
